90th Academy Awards Nominations – My Thoughts

The nominees for the 90th Annual Academy Awards were announced yesterday morning and while a lot of the expected favorites performed extremely well, there were a ton of genuine surprises. “The Shape of Water” got 13 nominations, the most of any film this year, while “Phantom Thread,” “Darkest Hour,” and “The Post” managed to get Best Picture nominations. I’ll be going over the entire list of nominees and discussing my thoughts on the top eight categories as well as list off my early predictions for what I think will win, what could win, what should win, and what got snubbed in each category with the exception of the ones that I haven’t seen enough to make a proper judgement. 75th Golden Globe Awards (Film) Predictions

The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be broadcasting live tonight at 8pm EST/5pm PST on NBC. Many of the major Oscar hopefuls are nominated for Best Picture including “Get Out,” “Lady Bird,” “The Shape of Water,” and “Call Me By Your Name.” Which ones are expected to take home those gold statues? Here I make my predictions for what will win in all of the film categories (I don’t watch enough TV to properly make any predictions on that front) as well as offer my personal picks for what should win and maybe what films got overlooked. November 2017 Films Ranked

Another month down, another ranked list. I saw 16 films released in November and, for the most part, it was a great month for movies. The only major release I missed that I wanted to catch was “Wonder,” especially after hearing such solid buzz. What’s New in Theaters (11/17/17): “Justice League,” “Mudbound,” “Roman J. Israel, Esq.” and More…

One of the year’s most anticipated blockbusters, “Justice League,” opens this weekend, but that’s not the only movie coming out. In theaters, we have Stephen Chbosky’s “Wonder,” Sony Pictures Animation’s “The Star,” Dan Gilroy’s sophomore feature “Roman J. Israel, Esq.” Netflix is also releasing festival favorite from director Dee Rees, “Mudbound.” So let’s go more in depth with each new release.
