“Guardians Of The Galaxy” 17 Minute Sneak Peek Review

gotgimax

As you may know, I am extremely excited for Marvel’s “Guardians Of The Galaxy” coming up in just a few weeks. The trailers have been absolutely fantastic and it just looked like such a fun and unique movie from the studio. Not to mention that it’s also the movie that directly leads us into “Avengers: Age Of Ultron.” So yesterday, I attended a sneak peek event where I saw 17 minutes of the film in IMAX 3D. I was super excited to get more of a glimpse at what I will be seeing come July 31. After having seen the footage, words cannot describe how much higher my anticipation is for this film. It looks insanely good! Just a fair warning that this post will contain spoilers on what I saw, so be warned before continuing to read. Continue reading

Sigourney Weaver Will Be In “Avatar” Sequels . . . How?!?

sigourneyweaver

Hey, remember “Avatar?” Y’know, the highest grossing movie of all-time? Well, it’s been nearly five years and director James Cameron is still trying to get started with work on the sequels. It’s basically just been all talk and no real solid news. But now, we have our first piece of information in months . . . and it’s really weird.

Cameron recently spoke out about if Sigourney Weaver would return to the cast in the three planned sequels and he said the following. Beware of spoilers of the first film, but I’m sure you’ve seen “Avatar” by now. Continue reading

James Gunn Speaks Out About 3D and IMAX in “Guardians of the Galaxy”

jamesgunn

Today on his Facebook page, director James Gunn made a post talking about his experience with the IMAX 3D conversion of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Here’s what he had to say:

Just got out of working on the Guardians cut for IMAX 3D and I’m unbelievably excited about it. “Guardians of the Galaxy” has been planned as a 3D film from its very inception. Yes, if you see the film in 2D, you’ll get a full experience. But the 3D experience promises a little something extra. Unlike many directors, I’ve been actively involved with converting every shot to 3D, making sure it works perfectly for the story and the film, making sure it’s spectacular and immersive without being silly, distracting, or overly showy. 3D conversion was once far inferior to shooting in 3D, but over the past couple years new technology has allowed us incredible control over the 3D effects, making it equal to or in some cases greater than shooting in 3D. Fresh V Rotten (May 30, 2014)

rottentomatoes

This weekend in movies, we have Angelina Jolie’s return to acting since 2010’s “The Tourist” (2011 if you count “Kung Fu Panda 2”), Seth MacFarlane’s sophomore directorial effort (this time without a teddy bear), James McAvoy going crazy again, and Jesse Eisenberg blowing up a dam. Time to check out what’s fresh and what’s rotten.

“A Million Ways to Die in the West” – 33% ROTTEN

General Consensus: “While it offers a few laughs and boasts a talented cast, Seth MacFarlane’s overlong, aimless ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’ is a disappointingly scattershot affair.”

“Maleficent” – 50% ROTTEN

General Consensus: “Angelina Jolie’s magnetic performance outshines ‘Maleficent”s dazzling special effects; unfortunately, the movie around them fails to justify all that impressive effort.” Continue reading
