News just broke today that the newest Warner Brothers film by the Wachowski siblings, “Jupiter Ascending,” has been pushed back from it’s July 18th, 2014 release date nearly seven months. The new release date that the film will have is February 6th, 2015. The reasoning behind the delay, according to Variety, has to do with the fact that there needs to be more time to finish the special effects for the film.
This is the second time in recent memory that a major summer blockbuster has been pushed off for several months just weeks prior to their release after Paramount’s “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” another film starring Channing Tatum. That film was said to be pushed back for a 3D conversion and additional reshoots (which really meant more Tatum).
In all honestly, I have zero interest in this film. I’ve lost faith in the Wachowski siblings as directors lately. We all can say over and over again how revolutionary “The Matrix” was for cinema, but that doesn’t change all the crap they’ve done since. Both “Matrix” sequels and last years “Cloud Atlas” are perfect examples of piles of trash painted over with pretty colors. “Jupiter Ascending looks exactly the same. So it doesn’t disappoint me at all that I have to wait seven more months to see this film.
